Profile
The park at Harlinsdale Farm is a 200-acre farm situated in Franklin, TN associated with the modern walking horse industry. Founded in 1933 by W.W. Harlin and his family, the farm has been home to many generations of local businesses and families over its long history. From the 1940s until today, the farm has acted as a breeding operation, operated by the Harlin family.
However, in 2004, the Harlin Family decided to sell the 200-acre farm to the city of Franklin, knowing that the property would be developed as a passive park while protecting and maintaining the walking horse history. The City of Franklin graciously accepted and started an extensive public planning process to come up with a master plan that would showcase the reputation of the farm, while including the needs and wants of the public.
The city of Franklin opened the park to the public in September 2007. All activities at the park are restricted to passive outdoor activities such as picnicking and walking. The park offers the following amenities 4-acre dog park, public parking, a 3-acre pond, temporary restroom amenities, a 5k soft track, and an equestrian trial.
Whether you come to take part in its natural beauty or explore its fascinating history, one thing is certain: you won’t forget your visit to Harlinsdale Farm!
